CIGE 2010

CORE Labs attended the last edition of the China International Gallery Exhibition (CIGE 2010), held at the China World Exhibition Hall in Beijing at the end of April 2010. CORE’s was the only digital showroom at the fair; our aim was to inform about the new-media languages we work with. Not widely known among the public, it seemed surprised when discovering and interacting with our works, so different from the rest of the galleries.

We gave out information leaflets and free merchandising material. Besides, we showed some of the works that CORE is currently developing, such as Minimal Networked Living Structures, a project that deepens the sense of space and connections between its elements. It also explores the organic side of digital art by simulating the expansion of a system network. The images were thrown over methacrylate, where audience could interfere autonomously with the artwork.

There was, as well, a live demonstration of augmented reality, where the audience could learn the way this technology works by showing CORE’s logo to the web-cams. Besides, a selection of video art was displayed on big screen. The audience could watch some of the video works, in collaboration with the netlabel Audiovisual Theorem, a platform established in Spain that works on promoting new talents and emergent projects.

All these pieces were asembled to create an exhibition where music and visual arts were combined as a new means of artistic expression.

CIGE 2010
