| Dorkbot is an international group of creative people that works as a nexus for artists interested on electronic art. Dorkbot defines itself as a place where people who make strange stuff with electricity meet. It serves as a meeting place for sharing ideas.
It promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue between professionals. The original event was dorkbot-nyc, started with the turning of the century by Douglas Repetto in New York City, with the support of the University of Columbia. Nowadays a worldwide dorkbot network works as a non-commercial franchising in over a hundred cities. Dorkbot Beijing is the first China based, and aims to support the country’s artistic and experimental scene, in a place where artists are often isolated due to the lack of social networks. Dorkbot consists on meetings where ideas and project presentations, around 20 minutes long, are held. They are followed by questions or discussions that include both the public and the speaker. |

Dorkbot es un colectivo de artistas y creativos internacional que permite hacer conexiones entre artistas interesados en el arte electrónico. Dorkbot se define a sí mismo como encuentros de gente que hace cosas raras con electricidad, proporcionando un espacio de reunión y de intercambio de ideas.
Fomenta la colaboración entre disciplinas y el diálogo entre las personas. El evento original es dorkbot-nyc, iniciado en el cambio de siglo por Douglas Repetto de New York City con el apoyo material de la Universidad de Columbia. Hoy hay una red de dorkbots que funcionan como una franquicia no comercial, en más de cien ciudades de todo el mundo. Dorkbot Beijing es el primero con base en China, a fin de apoyar la escena artística y experimental en el país, donde los artistas a menudo se encuentran aislados debido a la falta de redes sociales. Dorkbot se basa en reuniones de presentaciones de trabajos, proyectos, ideas y charlas de una duración de quince a veinte minutos, seguidas de preguntas, comentarios o discusiones por parte de los asistentes.
