OPEN CALL – Art Grant
Hangar convoca el concurso para seleccionar al/a artista que accederá a la residencia en CORE Labs, que se regirá por las bases siguientes:
1. Participantes
La participación en este concurso está abierta a todos los artistas visuales de nacionalidad española o extranjeros que vivan en España con dominio de la lengua inglesa.
*Perfil, dirigido a artistas de new media, multimedia, programadores o ingenieros cuya producción o linea de investigación se enmarque en la relación arte- nuevas tecnologías.
*Disciplina artistica, cualquier disciplina artística en relación con nuevas tecnologías y sistemas de información.
2. Duración de la residencia en Pequín
El/la artista seleccionado/a residirá en CORE Labs durante 3 meses: desde el 1 de agosto hasta el 30 de octubre de 2011.
3. Prestaciones y dotación de la beca
La beca Hangar-CORE Labs tiene una dotación económica de 3.550 € , incluye los siguientes conceptos:
- Dotación de 2.500 € en concepto de billete de avión, seguro médico, visado,manutención y adquisición de materiales, cantidad que percibe directamente el artista.
- El alojamiento y el taller, por un valor de 1.050 €, los sufraga Hangar directamente a CORE Labs.
4. Solicitudes
Los/las artistas interesados/as en participar en este concurso deberán cumplimentar el formulario de inscripción para la beca CORE Labs
*Se requiere incluir en la solicitud un proyecto a desarrollar durante la residencia.
Los proyectos deben circunscribirse a las siguientes líneas de investigación:
- Interacción con dispositivos físicos
- Sistemas de tracking de presencia y movimiento.
- Realidad Aumentada
- Visual Mapping
5. Plazo de presentación
El plazo de recepción de las solicitudes finaliza el 4 de abril de 2011.
La Comisión de Programas de Hangar hará la preselección el 12 de abril de 2011. El 13 de abril se comunicará el resultado a todos los solicitantes.
6. Selección
Los/las artistas preseleccionados/as pasarán a un segundo y definitivo concurso que será resuelto por un jurado propuesto por CORE Labs, reunido en Pequín. este jurado seleccionará a la/ al artista ganador/a de la beca Hangar-CORE Labs.
7. Aceptación de las bases y de la resolución del jurado
La participación en este concurso comporta la aceptación de sus bases y de la resolución del jurado, así como de los cambios que, a consecuencia de factores ajenos a la Fundación AAVC, se puedan producir con posterioridad.

HANGAR is a centre for arts production and research in Barcelona [Spain], set up by the Association of Visual Arts of Catalonia (AAVC) in 1997. It provides support facilities for artists and designers and offers services adapted to production needs associated with the arts world.
The centre is subsidised mainly by the Catalan Government and Barcelona City Council, and is managed by the AAVC Foundation. Focused on production and research, its management model and philosophy make Hangar a unique venue in Spain in general and Barcelona in particular.
Through its International Exchange Programme, Hangar lays out procedures for collaborating with art centres all over the world, both in terms of residency exchanges and in its willingness to participate in joint research and creative experimentation projects.
The programme seeks to promote artists’ mobility so that they may have the opportunity to develop their work in research, creation and production areas in specialized production centres. Contact and interaction in a different setting favours the artistic working process.
Hangar does not currently award grants to overseas artists travelling to Barcelona. All artists, of any nationality, may apply to work in one of Hangar’s studios. Travel expenses and accommodation in Barcelona, as well as the cost of studio rental must be met by the artist.
More than one grant can be applied for.
Criteria for selection of artists (calls for submissions for studios and grants)
The PC (Programme Committee) is made up of people connected to the art world (artists, critics, professors) who have been voted for by the AAVC assembly.
The PC always reaches a consensus through discussion and voting after viewing and assessing the material presented by applicants. The PC adopts open and pluralistic procedures of critical subjectivity.
The current Programme Committee (2010-2012) is made up of:
Dora García, Jordi Mitjà and Joan Vila-puig, as antists representation and Latitudes (Max Andrews & Mariana Cánepa) and Alex Mitrani as curators and crítics representation

Basic evaluation criteria :
-Presentation of all documents and material stipulated in the call for submissions, in the required format and with the appropriate extension.
-Compliance of personal material being presented with the conditions stipulated in the call for submissions, whether it applies to distribution of studios or an exchange grant.
-Clear presentation of written and visual information.
-The quality of the artist’s work in general and the particular project being presented.
-The artists’ professional approach to describing and defending their projects, in writing or during an interview.
